The route begins with the Larco Museum, located in the traditional district of Pueblo Libre and housed in a beautifully restored colonial mansion, built on a pre-Columbian pyramid of the seventh century. The museum has a complete pre-Hispanic collection of gold and silver objects, as well as pieces of erotic art. Continue with a scenic tour through the colonial centre. Visit the Main Square, where you can appreciate the magnificent architecture of the Spanish Empire. There, visit its splendid Cathedral, built in the sixteenth century. Continue to the modern district of Miraflores, where you will pass through its most representative places. After the tour, arrive at a local restaurant for lunch. Resume your route to Barranco, the most colorful and artistic neighborhood of Lima, which has numerous art galleries, bars, restaurants, beautiful colonial houses and craft shops for you to discover in its streets and postcard looking scenarios. • Day 3: Lima ~ Cusco ~ Sacred Valley
During the morning, you will be transferred to the Lima airport to take a flight to the city of Cusco (FLIGHT INCLUDED). Once there, a transport service takes you to the majestic Piuray Lagoon in the Sacred Valley. Upon arrival, you are welcomed with hot drinks, water and snacks. Complete this satisfying experience with a picnic lunch full of delicious and fresh local ingredients. After this, a vehicle takes you to your hotel in the Sacred Valley. (B, L)
  • Day 4: Sacred Valley
Head, through the Sacred Valley, to Ollantaytambo, a town uninterruptedly inhabited since the time of the Incas that maintains their urban planning. Climb the iconic fortress, built next to a mountain and recharge yourself with the Andean energy that you breathe in the place walking through its streets. Continue with a mythical lunch, a thousand-year-old ritual of the Andes: Pachamanca. It consists of preparing elements, such as potatoes, sweet potatoes, meat, vegetables and more, under the earth, cooking them with hot stones. While waiting for your meal to cook in El Albergue restaurant, walk around the place to learn about the organic garden, distillery and coffee production. Then, witness the unearthing of the Pachamanca and enjoy the food. Close the day with a visit to the Sacred Valley Brewery to learn about its production of craft beer using local techniques and ingredients. Tour the manufacturing plant and finish with a tasting of the various types of beer they offer. At the end of this nutritious activities, return to the hotel. (B, L)
  • Day 5: Sacred Valley ~ Machu Picchu ~ Cusco
Your visit to Machu Picchu begins with an hour and a half train journey through spectacular Andean landscapes to Aguas Calientes, starting at the Ollanta station. From here, you will make a 25-minute bus tour to Machu Picchu, the 'lost city of the Incas'. It is believed that the Inca Pachacútec built the archaeological site around 1450 as his holiday residence. However, a century later, the city was abandoned after the Spanish conquest, saving itself from the destruction that reached other Inca settlements. Instead, the jungle slowly swallowed its stone constructions and hid it, protecting it. During the guided tour, you will learn about the origins of this impressive citadel, presenting its most outstanding monuments such as the main square, the royal rooms, the temple of the three windows, the circular towers, the sacred clock and the cemeteries. After your Andean expedition, return to Aguas Calientes and treat yourself with a delightful lunch. At the end of the tour, board a train back to Cusco. (B, L)
  • Day 6: Cusco
Today, enjoy a guided tour of the former capital of the Inca Empire. Start walking through the traditional and bohemian neighbourhood of San Blas, the residence of artists and craftsmen. Discover its cobbled streets, embellished with beautiful shops, bars and art galleries. Visit the main square and enter the Cathedral. For lunch, be part of a unique culinary experience where you will learn to prepare typical Peruvian dishes with the freshest regional ingredients, a new way of knowing the incredible history and culinary tradition of Peru, overlooking the city’s stunning historic downtown from the 11th floor at Rooftop Kitchen. Start with a guided tour through the traditional San Pedro market where the class purchases the ingredients. This dynamic market has stalls that sell many local products: different varieties of potatoes, traditional Andean food, flowers, among many others. When finished, return to the modern individual kitchen stations and begin with the preparation of a cocktail, Pisco Sour. Continue with the elaboration of two dishes: the first based on fish and, as the main plate, Quinotto de Quinua or Lomo Saltado. Then, sweeten your day with a dessert and enjoy the meal accompanied by a glass of wine. At the end of this activity, you will return to your hotel. (B, L)
  • Day 7: Cusco ~ Home
