It is a super large collection of life-size terra cotta sculptures in battle formations, reproducing the mega imperial guard troops of Emperor Qin Shi Huang, the first emperor of the first unified dynasty of Imperial China. Being the most significant archeological excavations of the 20th century and a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Terracotta Army is no doubt a must-see for every visitor to Xian. On arrival, visit the Taicheng Wall, one of the key historical and cultural remains of Ming Dynasty under state protection that demonstrates China's ancient architecture. Even though it has a history of 600 years, it is still a spectacular sight due its preservation. Afterward, visit the Confucius Temple, dedicated to worshiping China’s most influential philosopher, Confucius. Originally, the temple was constructed in the year of 1034 in the Song Dynasty (420-589). It suffered repeated damage and has been rebuilt on several occasions since that time. The grounds offer an enticing sight of one of the longest screen walls and the largest statue of Confucius in China. • Day 8: Yangzhou ~ Suzhou
In the morning, depart from the cruise ship and head to Suzhou. Visit the Lion Grove Garden. Covering an area of about 2.7 acres, Lion Grove Garden is an ideal sightseeing site as it has richly ornamental pavilions and towers in different styles; each has its own history and story. The whole structure of Lion Grove Garden shows a flavor of Zen Buddhism and is an apotheosis of the gardens' constructions. The garden occupies a very important place in history, representing the diversity of cultural and architectural development in Suzhou over the years. After lunch head to Ping Jiang historical block, a symbol of Suzhou ancient city. When you walk in the Pingjiang historical block, the road was still the old paved roads; the river was still green and clear and the residence was still as quiet as before. Waling on the Pingjiang road, you can see all the scenery was as beautiful as a painting. Later, visit Hanshan Temple. Being one of the most famous temples in Chinese history, Hanshan Temple often boasts about its bell rings. It is also a Buddhism temple. The statue of the Buddhist patriarch Sakyamuni is there for people to make offerings to in the Grand Prayer Hall. Until now, the temple is one of the most important places to hold Buddhism activities. Return back to the boat after. (B, L, D)
  • Day 9: Suzhou ~ Shanghai
This morning, disembark the cruise and visit Xintiandi. It is unique because of its concept of construction. It retains the antique walls, tiles and exterior of the Shikumen housing of old Shanghai. Here you can enjoy international gallery, bars and cafes, boutiques and theme restaurants. When you walk into it, you will get the taste of both Shanghai in the 1920's and the sonic modern lifestyle of urbanites of the 21st century.
